Since the year of foundation in 1982 we stand by our responsibilities not only in economics but also in ecological and social ways. We are committed to the social code of sustainable development and we are aware that it is a long and tough path.
Sustainability is at the foundation of our company vision with acknowledgement to quality craftsmanship. “Made in Germany” is the promise of the ORTLIEB brand for high quality, regional employment, environmentally friendly production and respectful co-operation.
Since 1993 we have systematically analyzed any ecological weak points in our production and we improved a great deal.
Promoting cycling is one of our main objectives from the very beginnings. Commencing in 2013 we systematically worked on sustainability; in the beginning of 2015 we issued our first comprehensive climate footprint (2011-2013). We are currently collecting further relevant data in order to reach our goals which we have set ourselves within the framework of the sustainability strategy adopted in 2016. The ORTLIEB sustainability strategy entitled “ORTLIEB cares – 4 SUMMITS 4 THE FUTURE” has been created in a development process which lasted years. On the basis of a comprehensive status quo diagnosis with focus on climate balance, four key areas with a strong core business relationship have been identified – also in exchange with internal and external stakeholders. The first ORTLIEB sustainability report in compliance with the criteria defined by the German Sustainability Code (DNK) was published in 2017.
